August 15th will be my 35th birthday. I enjoy a good celebration and this year I have a great idea! I am humbled and grateful that God has given me breath for another day, so I want to shift the focus from “my day” to a greater need…the women and children seeking shelter at The Domestic Violence Shelter, Inc. here in Richland county.
- 1 in 3 women have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.*
- 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.*
These women are in your MOPS groups, church pews, homeschool co-ops, work places and grocery store lines. These children are in your Sunday school classes, your children’s Christian and public school classes, playgrounds and store aisles. Each time you step outside your door, you are coming in contact with women and children that domestic violence has influenced in some form or another.
I am one of these women. My daughter is one of those children. But we are more than just a statistic. We are survivors. We aren’t alone. And we want to give back. So, starting today 8/8/18 and ending 8/15/18, 100% of the money received at Amber Bowman Ministries will be used to help purchase items for women and children at a local domestic violence shelter. We are VERY excited to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the women and children seeking shelter here locally.
Please consider joining with us and meeting some very real needs. We love because He first loved us. Thank you friends!
