Why I Am Breaking My Silence

Many have asked why I’ve decided to come forward with my story of being married to convicted serial killer, Shawn Grate.  I want others to know they are not alone.  If my story can save one life, or bring hope to others in similar situations, then all the pain will be worth it.  A healthy amount of time has passed for my daughter and I to walk through this painful process.  Through God’s miraculous healing, I am now confident to share this story publicly.

There is no way to process the extremely close proximity to evil I experienced without seeing God’s protection.  There is no way to dry my child’s tears over her absent, evil father without God’s strength.  There is no way to understand the undeniable shielding my daughter and I have experienced without God’s mighty work.

This is not a Shawn Grate story.  This is a God story.

My ultimate prayer is that God will use the ashes of this tragedy to bring many to desperately-needed healing.  I can share openly about my brush with evil to help many woman who suffer in silence at the hand of an abuser.  I pray that God uses me to show abused women and children they are not alone, and help can be found.
